Way Out Wild offers hands-on outdoor education experiences designed to build confidence, knowledge, and safety in the outdoors. While our mission centers on empowering women and creating supportive learning spaces, we also offer select coed classes open to the broader outdoor community. Our classes include:
Outdoor Gear Class: An approachable, hands-on introduction to the essential gear systems that make your outdoor activity of choice more safe, comfortable, and stress-free.
Plant & Ethnobotanical: Explore native plants, their traditional uses, and how to respectfully interact with local ecosystems, including how to identify and avoid poisonous plants.
Wilderness First Aid (WFA): A hands-on, scenario-based certification course that teaches you how to assess, treat, and manage medical emergencies in remote environments when help is not immediately available. Ideal for hikers, backpackers, climbers, and outdoor leaders.
Wilderness Safety: Learn essential skills for staying safe in the backcountry, including navigation, first aid basics, emergency preparedness, and risk management.
